unannounced power outage.

We had a wonderful meeting on 23rd December, 2010. After a longtime, we had such a heavy attendance of fifteen people. Toastmaster of the Evening was TM Chauhan, Table Topic Master was TM Mehmood, General Evaluator was TM Dr. Avan and Table Topics Evaluator was TM Sajjad.

TM Raza Abidi presided over the meeting. He brilliantly explained the benefits of communication skills and how being regular to the Toastmasters can help us improve. According to him, Toastmasters can help us at both the levels i.e. Interpersonal and Public speaking.

Table Topic’s session was successfully conducted by TM Mehmood. The most entertaining topic was the qualities of our beloved president. The topic was assigned to TM Nazeer Vaid who joined us after a very longtime. We hope to see more of you!

Prepared speeches were delivered by TM Shahrukh (Advance Manual: Speaking to Inform-Project 2) and TM Junaid (Competent Communication Manual-Project 2). First speech was to clarify myths about Pakistan and second speech focused on the environment and how can we play our role to minimize the threat.

Our last session was conducted by TM Dr. Avan as the General Evaluator. She was of the opinion that the new venue was too small for our club to conduct meetings. This will be discussed and final decision will be taken by the consent and vote of the members. TM Sajjad was the Evluator for the Table Topics and he gave a wonderful evaluation even when there was a power outage in the middle of his evaluation.

The meeting was informative and entertaining. We hope to hold our last meeting of the year on 30th December, 2010 and make it the most memorable one.

Generation-Y

We had a wonderful time this week. Our meeting held in the Hotel Beach Luxury on 9th December, 2010 at 6:25 p.m. as scheduled. Toastmaster of the evening was Toastmaster Izhar, Table Topic Master was TM Chauhan and General Evaluator was TM Fahim.

TM Chauhan performed superbly and came up with brilliant table topics. We not only learned about generation-Y but how can we overcome all the odds and play the leadership role to a better and brighter future.

Roles were played by TM Junais as the Timer and Vote-Counter, TM Mehmood as Ah-Counter and the wordmaster and TM Shahrukh as the Grammarian. Prepared speeches were delivered by TM Sajjad and TM Tayab.

Table Topics were evaluated by TM Haris while evaluators for speeches were TM Shahrukh (for TM Sajjad) and TM Junaid (for TM Tayab).

The graph shows a decrease in the use of ah’s and other filler words while the splendid use of grammar was seen. Enormous was the word of the day and was used considerable amount of time.

Winner for Table Topics Session was TM Fahim and TM Tayyab wan the session of prepared speeches.

TM Maneck has given out the invitation of Bar. B. Q. at his place with 200/- Rs. per head. And TM Sajjad has also proposed to plan out for a picnic at his beach hut.

We are not schedule to meet next week due to Muharram. But our next meeting will is on 23rd December, 2010 but at a new venue. TM Nazir Vaid has offered use his official premises and the object is to attract more members by charging only 150/- Rs for a meeting.

Raising the roof!

The roof was falling, meeting charges were rising and there was water everywhere. But nothing was enough to hold the Professional Toastmasters Club from holding their meeting on 2 December, 2010. With the appropriate attendance and two guests who have agreed to become our member, the meeting took off.
The theme of the day was “Nothing is Impossible”. Colour of the was “Green” and sign was “Fort”.
The Big Three were TM Bakshi as the Toastmaster of the Evening, TM Sameer as the Table Topics Master and TM Chauhan as our General Evaluator.
Prepared speeches were TM Fareed’s “An Extra Mile” and TM Shahrukh’s “World Wars in 7 minutes”.
Our Evaluators included TM Umer as out Table Topics Evaluator, while TM Sameer (for TM Shahrukh) and TM Haris (for TM Fareed) were the evaluator of the prepared speeches.
Helpers of the day were TM Haris as an Ah-counter and the Word-master (Word of the day was Jubilant), TM Sajjad was the Timer and Vote-counter and TM Umer was the Grammarian.
Table Topics session was a blast. TM Sameer was both, the good and the bad cop. Topics included, “The day when you got in to a fight” or “recall the moment when you saw the most beautiful girl”, and my personal favourite, “when was it when you had the ugliest quarrel with you wife”.

Winner of the Table Topics session was TM Sameer. Winner for the Speeches was TM Fareed and TM Haris was voted the best evaluator.

Our meeting was a success. Even with the roof coming apart and with water everywhere, we managed skillfully and proved that nothing is impossible!
