Hope and Happiness

Our meeting was on June 23rd, 2011, at Beach Luxury hotel. The duties of the Sergeant-at-Arms were performed by TM Shahrukh and Madam TM Dr. Avan presided over the meeting. Toastmaster of the Evening was TM Aqeel and Table Topics Master was TM Mehmood. General Evaluator was TM Sajjad and Table Topics Evaluator was TM Bakshi.



The theme of our meeting was ‘Happiness’ and in the Table Topics session, participants were asked to express their feelings if something good or bad happens to them. TM Sajjad was asked to express his feelings if he became the President of Pakistan. TM Tahir was asked to express his feelings if he became a father. TM Shahrukh was asked to express his feelings if he passed his CSS exams. TM Nadym was asked to express his feelings if he had earned Ph.D. TM Adel Tariq was asked to express his feelings if on the day of his exam he got stuck in traffic. TM Khalid was asked to express his feelings if he was standing in a bus for over an hour. TM Bakshi was asked to express his feelings while performing Hajj. Madam TM Dr. Avan was asked to express her feelings if she got a chance to go to U.S. And our guest Urooj was asked to express her feelings if she was driving on a lonely road and her car suddenly stops but she is then helped by a stranger.




Roles were performed by TM Adel as the Grammarian, TM Shahrukh was the Vote Counter and the Timer, TM Khalid was the Ah-Counter and TM Bakshi was the Word-master of the day. The word of the day was ‘Hope.’


In prepared Speeches session, we had five speeches. First speech was delivered by TM Nadym and he was evaluated by Madam TM Dr. Avan. The title of his speech was ‘first step’ and he delivered Project two from the Competent Communicator manual.



TM Tahir presented his speech with the title, ‘Sharpen your memory.’ He completed his project three from the Competent Communicator manual. He was evaluated by TM Bakshi.



TM Ibad delivered his project three form the Competent Communicator manual. The title of his speech was ‘Consumer Power’ and he was evaluated by TM Shahrukh.

TM Khalid presented project seven from the Competent Communicator manual. The title of his speech was ‘History of Lahore.’ He was evaluated by TM Sajjad.

Madam TM Dr. Avan presented her second last project form the Interpretive Reading manual. She presented a passage from the novel ‘Hamlet’ and presented a monodrama.



The winner for the Table Topics session was TM Avan and TM Ibad was the runner-up. Winner for the Prepared Speeches session was TM Ibad and TM Nadym was the runner-up.



TM Aqeel also presented TM Sajjad and TM Bakshi with a gift to pay tribute to their tiring efforts for the promotion and progress of the Professional Toastmasters Club. Madam TM Dr. Avan also received the certificate from Toastmasters International on the completion of her Competent Communicator manual.

A pleasant surprise

We had a beautiful meeting on June 16th, 2011 at Beach Luxury Hotel. The Toastmaster of the Meeting was Madam TM Dr. Avan, Table Topics Master was Madam TM Neel, General Evaluator was TM Shahrukh and Table Topics Evaluator was TM Khalid. The theme of our meeting was ‘Lady Luck.’ We had a wonderful guest with us from the Express Toastmaster Club, TM Ali Raza Abidi.


TM Fahim is visiting various Toastmasters clubs of Singapore and keeping us updated. Here are some pictures of his experience with Lion City Toastmasters.


Roles were peformed by TM Shahrukh as the Grammarian, TM Adnan as the Ah-Counter, TM Junaid as the Word-Master and TM Tahir performed dual roles of the Timer and the Vote-Counter. Word of the day was ‘Quash.’


In the prepared speeches session, four speeches were delivered. First speech was delivered by TM Shabana. She presented her ‘Ice Breaker’ from the manual: Competent Communicator. She was evaluated by TM Ali Raza Abidi.


TM Mehmood presented project six: Vocal Variety from the manual: Competent Communicator. He was evaluated by TM Junaid. The title of his speech was ‘Traffic Jam.’

TM Aqeel presented project seven: Research Your Topic from the manual: Competent Communicator. The title of his speech was ‘Cyclone.’ He was evaluated by TM Adnan.

TM Jaan Ali presented his project two: Organise Your Speech from the manual: Competent Communicator. He is visually impaired but we were all agog by his performance. The Title of his speech was ‘How can I?’ and it was evaluated by Madam TM Dr. Avan.

Our winner for the Table Topics session was our guest TM Ali Raza Abidi. TM Shahrukh was the runner-up. Our winner for the Prepared Speeches session was TM Jaan Ali and TM Mehmood was the runner-up. TM Khalid was declared winner for most frequently using the word of the day.


We were all surprised when TM Aqeel presented our guest TM Ali Raze and our members TM Khalid, TM Mehmood and TM Jaan Ali with gifts. Every gift had a wonderful quotation which wills left the meeting that day but will forever remain with us.

a new beginning

We had an amazing time on June 9th, 2011. The venue of our meeting was Beach Luxury Hotel. The meeting started by observing the Toastmasters pledge and the duties of Sergeant-at-Arms were performed by TM Sharukh. Our presiding officer was TM Sajjad. The theme of our meeting was ‘Traffic Jam.’


The role for the Toastmaster of the Evening was performed by TM Jaan Ali who is visually impaired. His performance was outstanding and he conducted the entire meeting without anyone’s help. Table Topic Master was TM Neel and General Evaluator was TM Maneckji. Table Topics Evaluator was TM Khalid.


Installation ceremony was conducted before the Table Topics session. The ceremony was conducted by TM Sameer and TM Bakshi. The new office bearers are TM Dr. Avan as the President, TM Shahrukh as the Vice President Education, TM Khalid as the Vice President Public Relations, TM Haris as the Vice President Membership, TM Aqeel as the Secretary, TM Ibad as the Treasurer and TM Neel as the Sergeant-at-Arms.


Roles for the meeting were performed by our four members. TM Farid was the Timer, TM Sameer was the Grammarian and TM Shahrukh was the Word-Master. TM Mehmood performed dual roles of the Ah-Counter and the Vote-Counter. Word of the day was ‘Disdain.’


There were three prepared speeches in the prepared speeches session. TM Nadeem presented his Ice Breaker form the manual: ‘Competent Communicator.’ He was evaluated by TM Ibad.


TM Aqeel repeated project five: ‘Your Body Speaks’ form the manual: Competent Communicator.’ He was evaluated by TM Dr. Avan. The title of his speech was 'Be A Winner.'



TM Shahrukh presented his first project: ‘Warm Up Your Audience’ from the manual: ‘Humorously Speaking.’ He was evaluated by TM Farid. The title of his speech was 'What Is Red And White?'



Winner of the Table Topics was TM Khalid and runner-up was TM Sameer. Winner of the prepared speeches was TM Shahrukh and runner-up was TM Nadeem.

man is a social animal and animal in many other ways

Our members were agog on the theme of our meeting on June 2nd, 2011. The theme of the meeting was ‘Opportunity’. The venue was Beach Luxury Hotel and time was 6:30 p.m. Sergeant-at-Arms was TM Khalid who started the meeting by observing the Toastmasters pledge. Presiding officer was TM Shahrukh since our president TM Fahim was the Toastmaster of the Evening. General Evaluator was TM Hanif Sattar and Table Topics Evaluator was TM Mehmood.

Roles were performed by TM Tahir as the Timer and Vote-Counter, TM Sajjad as the Grammarian, TM Neel as Ah-Counter and TM Sajjad was the word-master. Word of the day was in shape of a phrase ‘positive thinking.’

Table Topics Session was conducted by TM Dr. Avan. We were to describe our life as an object and descried in such a way that other Toastmasters are able to guess what object we are. TM Hanif Sattar was a mirror, TM Sajjad was a chair, TM Neel was a computer, TM Nadeem was a pen, TM Tahir was a tea, TM Shahrukh was a walking stick, TM Jaan Ali was a cap, TM Fahim was a bag and TM Ibad was a door.

There were three prepared speeches delivered in the prepared speech session. TM Aqeel presented project six ‘Vocal Variety’ from the Competent Communicator manual. He was evaluated by TM Sajjad. His best line was that we must realise our weaknesses and focus on our strengths.

TM Khalid presented project six ‘Vocal Varity’ from the Competent Communicator manual. The title of his speech was ‘the unsung heroes’ and it was evaluated by TM Hanif Sattar. He narrated the story of Captain Ahsan Malik who with only with his few men fought the entire Indian brigade for 21 days. General Manekshaw form the Indian army praised his valour, courage and bravery.

Last prepared speech was delieverd by TM Ibad. He presented project two ‘Organise your Speech’ from the Competent Communicator manual. The title of his speech was ‘The grass is greener on the other side’ and it was evaluated by TM Tahir. His best line was that man is a social animal and animal in many other ways.

Winner of the Table Topics Session was TM Shahrukh and TM Sajjad was the runner-up. Winner of the Prepared Speeches Session was TM Aqeel and TM Ibad was the runner-up.

Our Vice-President Membership, TM Sajjad discussed with us the issue of increase in hotel charges. He also conducted the elections for our new executive committee. Our new President is TM Dr. Avan and our new Vice President Education is TM Shahrukh. TM Neel was nominated for the office of Sergeant-at-Arms. The elections will be continued in our next meeting.
