‘Making people happy’
Fellow toastmasters, to make people happy we do not require big things to do, small things matter. We have to understand the message being given by our friends and fellows, note variance in their spoken words and passive voices, they have a hidden meanings in their calls.
This reminds me a story a very old story, there used to be a gentleman who died and reach no sooner did he reach the havens he recognized an angel with whom he had met several years age. He grabs him and complains, “You forecasted about me of getting wealth, fame and marrying a beautiful woman”, but nothing happened.
The angel smiled and said, “Gentleman you perhaps misunderstood the advice given by me. I told you that opportunities will come in your way and you have to seize them. Do you remember the earth quake which hit your town, that was a time of great misery, people came to you and requested to lead them, to help and assist victims but you refrained to lead them on the pretext that taking care of one’s own home is a priority, because people will loot it the house, and I will be left with nothing. People felt disappointed. You did like a beautiful woman, she also liked you and kept waiting for moves from you, but you had no courage to tell her that you love her, and ultimately she married someone else. A very successful business idea was rooted in your mind but again your fears and reluctance stoped you to encash that opportunity. Somebody else, at a much later time, encashed it, my dear the cause of your failure lies in your own actions, fears, reluctance and to seize the moment. Do not blame me, curse your own actions and understanding.
Toastmaster Shahrukh was unhappy today, why, I don’t know, but Shahrukh here is a gift for you. Please cheer up. Toastmaster Zulfiqar is sitting very tense today, sir here is a smiling flower for you, cheer up dear. TM Parween perhaps forgot to bring her chewing gum, that is why, she looks disturbed, ‘Madam don’t worry’ here is your chewing gum.
Toastmasters, happiness lies in sharing, in giving and taking, by extending love by caring, by giving and receiving gifts. Happiness does not descends form havens, you and me have to improve the environments around us. We have to take care of our loved ones we have to extend love to each other that is how we can make people around us happy and satisfied.
What I have done today, I exchanged gift, I extended love, I cared for someone and you might have noticed that how the environment around us suddenly looking more bright. These are minor gestures in our today’s dealings and these gestures made the difference to improve the environment around us.
Toastmasters, I urge you all to share with others, extend love, to  take care of your loved ones, exchange gifts and I assure your that these small acts are going to make our loved ones more  happy and to be prod of us. If by extending these acts of love gift, sharing, caring and help, we can extend happiness around here in this small place, Toastments by repeating these acts either at city level, or country level or global level, we can make this world more peaceful and loveable place. Take care of yourself and others around you.
Over to the toastmaster of the evening.
