Our meeting on May 19th, 2011 was a wonderful event. The time of the meeting was 6:30. It would seem that because of the terrible traffic jam we would not be able to conduct our programme but the determination and dedication of our members made it all possible. Meeting was started by our Sergeant-at-Arms by observing the Toastmasters pledge. Our meeting was presided over by our President TM Fahim.
TM Aqeel performed the role of Toastmaster of the Evening. Table Topic Master was DTM Fazalur Rahim and General Evaluator was TM Haris. Table topics were evaluated by TM Sajjad.
In table topics session, very interesting topics were assigned to the speakers. There were total nine speakers who were asked to speak on Helen Keller, gem can’t shine without friction, importance of goal, success is a journey and not a destination etc. Speakers who were asked to speak in this session were TM Jaan Ali, TM Shahrukh, TM Haris, TM Neel, TM Sajjad, TM Aqeel, TM Shabeer, TM Ibad and TM Khalid.
There were five prepared speeches. First speech was by TM Ibad. He presented his Ice Breaker from the Competent Communicator manual and his evaluator was TM Shahrukh.
Second speaker was TM Khalid who presented his project four: ‘How to say it’ from the Competent Communicator manual. His speech was evaluated by TM Fahim and the title of the speech was ‘Life Goes On.’
Third Speech was presented by TM Shahrukh. He presented project four: ‘Read Out Loud’ from the advance manual: 'Specialty Speeches' with the title ‘Dark side of knowledge.’ His speech was evaluated by TM Sajjad.
Fourth speaker in the prepared speeches session was TM Fahim. He presented the bonus project from the Competent Communicator manual: ‘The entertaining speaker.’ The title of his speech was ‘lost in translation’ and his evaluator was TM Haris.
Fifth speaker of the day was TM Shabeer. He presented project two: ‘Organise Your Speech’ from the Competent Communicator manual. The title of his speech was ‘Entrepreneur’ and his evaluator was TM Khalid. He presented ten tips for being a good entrepreneur:
1) think success
2) be passionate about what you do
3) focus on your strengths
4) never consider the possibility of failure
5) plan accordingly
6) work hard
7) constantly look for ways to network
8) willingness to learn
9) perseverance and have faith
10) Discipline yourself
The roles were performed by TM Haris as the Timer, TM Khalid as the Grammarian, TM Jaan Ali as the Ah-counter, TM Shabeer as the Vote-Counter and TM Sajjad as the word master. The word of the day was ‘Responsibility.’ Tm Sajjad also presented his observation that even when a chosen word is very simple, speakers will still forget to use it.
Winner for the Table Topics Session was TM Sajjad and TM Ibad was the runner-up. Winner for the Prepared Speeches session was TM Khalid and TM Shahrukh was the runner-up.

Meeting Programme: The club meetings are held every Sunday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at Carlton Hotel. The programme is comprised of three segments: table topics; prepared speeches; and evaluations.
